A new series!
It came out in 2024, and when I saw it, I recognized Kristen Bell because she also starred in The Good Place. So just for that, I had faith that it would be worth watching.
A rabbi is a Jewish scholar and expert in Jewish law. According to Wikipedia, in modern Hebrew, “Rabbi” means my superior / my teacher. His name is Noah.
Her name is Joanne, and she makes a podcast with her sister about sex and all the associated taboos. Then, Noah and Joanne meet at a party, and there’s an immediate connection.
They have a good time, but he has just broken up with his sort-of fiancée, and she is quite attached to her “promiscuous” lifestyle.
It’s a brilliantly written series, and I don’t want to give too many spoilers, so just go ahead and watch it.
Although I did struggle a bit at first and had some questions here and there, I definitely think it’s a fun series! (I always pay attention to details, everywhere and anywhere.)
The idea alone, that a holy man and someone who makes a podcast about sex would develop a romantic interest, is an interesting concept, and they’ve definitely brought it to life well.
There’s comedy, drama, and romance. It’s definitely a feel-good show for when you’re feeling down or sick on the couch.
The actors and actresses do an amazing job; I’ve laughed and also wiped away a tear.
It’s so relatable – if you were to come up with this yourself, you’d know the challenges you’d face, and in my opinion (I’m not Jewish), they nailed it. But if you are Jewish and have some extra thoughts to add, let me know – I’m super curious!
I finished it in 2 days because there are only 10 episodes, each half an hour long, in the first season. I just saw the trailer for Season 2 on YouTube, and although I think most of the footage is from Season 1… I can’t wait to continue watching.
Of course, it ended with a cliffhanger, and the only thing I can find online is that Season 2 will be released this year, 2025…
Progress ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tears 💧
Smiles 😂😂😂
Recommendation 8/10
