Normally I’m not really into reality shows or dating shows, but this one seemed fun to check out. And honestly, it’s actually pretty fun to watch! 🤠🇺🇸
The dating show Farmer Wants a Wife (known in the Netherlands as Boer Zoekt Vrouw) is a reality show where single farmers are looking for a partner. The concept is simple: people from cities or other areas come to the farm to see if love might grow. ❤️
🌾 The basic idea:
A number of single farmers introduce themselves to the audience. They usually live in rural areas and often don’t have much time or opportunity to meet someone. People who are interested can sign up to get to know them.
In my opinion, the show does lean a bit heavily into the drama. I personally wouldn’t mind if there were a little less of that, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some scenes are edited in a way that makes things seem more dramatic than they really are.
But then again… five women all trying to date the same man… that’s bound to get a little dramatic. 😅
🌍 Fun fact: It’s actually a worldwide format! The show started in the United Kingdom in 2001 and has since been produced in more than 30 countries.
💡 The idea behind it: People don’t just have to be a romantic match—they also have to fit into the farming lifestyle, which can often be remote and pretty demanding.
I’m still on season 1, and I have to admit… sometimes I look up the girls’ names on Instagram just to see if they ended up together or not. 😅😝
So yeah—it’s a fun watch. I usually put it on while I’m doing something else in the background, like cooking or doing laundry. 😊
