I finished this book within two days. While I had the book on the shelf for a long time, I avoided it.
I was a bank that it would be incredibly confronting and… it is π
This book made me (and many others) think about good and bad. I’ve always wondered how I could do more for the world. And I still do. I may be a charity donor, but that can’t be all, can it?
At the beginning of the book, Rutger talks about a child drowning in a pond and you’re looking at it, what are you doing? Are you acting right away or do you first think you’re wearing expensive shoes? It’s an interesting piece. Because we all know that in the present time (unfortunately) many people pick up their phones and start filming instead of intervening π
On the inside of the cover, both front and back, are reviews of famous people. People describe this book in one word. A few of those words are; impressive, rock-solid, beautiful, catchy, contagious, convincing, confrontational, powerful, fantastic, essential and a wake-up call.
I totally agree πͺπΌ
Change starts with you.
There are many stories in this book that make this clear. That one person can already make huge changes! And that is encouraging.
Of course, there are some things I have underlined, read a few here;
β«οΈIdealism can go well with a dash of vanity.
β«οΈYou don’t do the right thing because you are a good person, you become a good person by doing the right thing.
β«οΈ “The man who bastards, who gets used to everything.” Fyodor Dostoevsky
Highly recommended again. I immediately ordered more books from him and look forward to the future, with confidence that I will do more for this world.
Every little bit helps. And something small can be a huge thing for someone else.
Thanks for reading and please read this book too! π©·
